The facility is located in the center of the Istrian karst, only six kilometers from the Slovenian border, in an area that is sparsely populated and developed, but surrounded by untouched nature.
The total area of the building of 390 m2 (two floors of the school) is fully equipped with the necessary furniture and other technical and laboratory equipment, which ensures the possibility of a large number of people staying for several days (20 beds) and their work in the Scientific Education Center “Speleo kuća”, which satisfies the needs of all recognized stakeholders – scientific groups, faculties, non-governmental associations and organizations and educational institutions such as kindergartens, primary and secondary schools.
The available technical equipment enables the organization and implementation of conferences, seminars, workshops and other events within the school, as well as the work of scientific, student or school groups during a multi-day stay in the house. Laboratory equipment (microscope, magnifying glass and related accessories) is available to scientists, but also to groups of natural science students for their education during field classes and other interested groups.
The concept of the space is designed in such a way that on the ground floor of the building it is possible to wash and store field equipment after arriving from the field (there is a cloakroom with a key for storing equipment). On the first floor, there are work rooms, a laboratory area and a conference area, which ensures the possibility of high-quality work for a large number of people and the holding of workshops, seminars and lectures. The facility has a furnished dining room with a kitchenette for users of the space.
On the second floor are the sleeping areas, four separate rooms with bunk beds and wardrobes. Ensuring a multi-day stay is necessary for the planned purpose of the Speleo house, because research in the field cannot be carried out in just one day, and especially not if it involves foreign expeditions coming from more distant countries. Likewise, faculty groups plan multi-day field classes in groups of about 20 students under the guidance of professors and assistants.
The purpose of the Scientific Education Center is to contribute to the development of science, the mobilization of scientists and young people to the poorly developed and uninhabited area of Ćićarija, the development of the region itself and the recognition of the project area as a karst area of exceptional natural value through the dedicated use of the facility!
SCIENTIFIC AND PROFESSIONAL CONTENTS
The aim and purpose of the Scientific Education Center “Speleo kuća” in Vodice in the Municipality of Lanišće is to ensure the sustainability of the imagined concept of interdisciplinary work between several scientific and professional institutions at the international level.
Directing various institutions and associations dealing with karst, nature and environmental protection or other social, i.e. socio-economic, to the border area of Northern Istria is considered the greatest success of the projects carried out so far and the basis for further work of the Scientific Education Center “Cave House”.
Three floors of the old village school, with a total area of 390 m2, were renovated and equipped in order to create a headquarters for future projects and ideas in the domain of karst protection, as well as environmental protection in general. The center is deliberately located away from large city centers and larger towns, but provides the possibility of accommodation and all the necessary technical conditions for multi-day use by future users (from scientists, environmental protection experts and other profiles, various educational groups to participants of the team building program -And). Isolation with the possibility of using modern technology in this case is a winning combination or a guarantee for productive, creative and smooth work.
The goal of the Scientific Education Center “Speleo kuća” is to acquire new scientific knowledge by providing space and equipment to various scientific and other groups with the possibility of staying and working in the facility for several days.

ECOLOGICAL TOURISM

We can enrich the stay in the facility for various interested groups of visitors with expert guidance, using and visiting the Center’s additional facilities, such as the karst presentation area on the ground floor of the facility, enjoying the natural beauty while walking along the well-maintained and marked footpaths, while the youngest visitors to the Center will certainly look forward to the well-maintained children’s playground. .

EDUCATIONAL CONTENTS
The purpose of the Scientific Education Center “Speleo kuća” is to contribute to the development of science, the mobilization of scientists and young people to the poorly developed and uninhabited area of Ćićarija, the development of the region itself and greater recognition of the karst area of exceptional natural value through the dedicated use of the facility.
The future work of the Center plans to develop the concepts of formal and informal education in nature, with kindergartens, schools, higher education institutions and other educational institutions and civil society associations being imposed as preferred partners.
Education of all age groups and raising awareness of the value of this area are the focus of the Center, while the primary goal is to motivate the youngest ages from the entire area of the Istrian County to stay in nature and get to know their homeland. In this regard, the Center has already implemented targeted activities, however, every new idea is welcome, so we invite all potential partners and users to contact us and present their proposals.
